Day 4 - Palm Springs to Laughlin

Maybe should be known as D-Day, as in Dudley.

Got up about 6am and drew back the curtains to discover we had a balcony. View out over the city very nice. You can see where it gets its name. Quite warm already. Don't suppose it dropped too much over night though.

Nipped down for a quick brekkie, then got our stuff loaded. And off we all went. Well, not quite all. All bar one sat on the road outside the hotel whilst Dean went back to find a missing rider in the underground car park. Yes, you guessed it, Dudley. He'd forgotten to remove the cable lock from his front wheel and got about 4 feet before it was rudely brought to his attention!

Soon on the road the plan was to do the Joshua Tree National Park, then fuel up before continuing. Dud had other ideas though but more of that shortly.

On the way out of Palm Springs we came across a wind farm. Not the 6 windmill stuff of those back in blighty though, no, here there were hundreds. In fact, in that valley, there are 3218 of the things! It's not just the people that are big here!

A few miles further on, Dudley comes sailing by pointing at his petrol tank and indicating he needs to fill up. How? We've only done about 75 miles since fillup. Trying unsuccessfully to attract the attention of Dean, he decides to pull into a petrol station, leaving the rest of us to sail on without him. Just not Dud's day today. Luckily Larry sweeps him up and all is well by the time we arrive at the National Park visitor centre. A sheepish and apologetic Dud joins us as we collect our passes. A short drink break later, we set off for the park.
